Your movie star double is Cate Blanchett

An intellectual like you needs to be played by someone who understands how to be deep without being boring, someone who can grasp complicated subjects and make them seem clear cut, someone like Cate Blanchett. Whether bringing to life Elizabethan stories or playing an undercover WWII courier in Charlotte Gray, Cate has shown the world that being smart can be sexy.

Were you sometimes the kid in class who realized when the teacher made a mistake — even if you didn't always point it out? Now that you're grown up, it wouldn't surprise us if you still liked the challenge of banter or enjoyed staying up late talking about the latest in political, social, or celebrity circles. Your glamour comes from your head first and radiates out through your looks. Cate's a natural to star as you because she, like you, has a good head on her shoulders. And she isn't afraid to use it.

    Colors and Swatches

    Friday, April 21, 2006
Huhu.. lost the entire post I drafted earlier. :( Bad Blogger! I hope I can still remember what I composed.

Preparation progress is going a bit slow these days. Haven't accomplished much lately. Haven't decided on the couturier yet. Even worse, list of entourage and principal sponsors still far from being complete. Everything's just hangin' up in the air.

    Recent updates:

Was finally able to officially include Carol in our entourage. She's a good friend of mine from college and had already migrated to Canada some years ago. I asked her to be my abay during her brief visit here in Manila last March. I'm glad she agreed. :) The next challege is to get her measurement before she goes back to Canada. We have to get her measurement ahead of time so that she can do her first fitting even one week before the wedding date. As we haven't finalized our couturier yet, I dunno who's going to take the measurement. Last week, I tried my luck and called Yifu if they can do the it. I'll just pay the service charge. To my surprise, the secretary (Jo) agreed to take her measurement free of charge! So nice of them! Hm.. Maybe we can have Yifu make our mommy gowns instead. I've seen their work before and I'm confident they make really nice mommy gowns. :)

I was blog hoppin' the other day and saw this pic from Angie's blog (Hi Angie! I took the liberty to post this pic. I hope it's ok with you. ) Wow! That's the exact design and color in Jorge Palmos' sketch! I love the design and the color! Just the exact shade I saw in the Fall edition of Martha Stewart Weddings magazine! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT! I LOVE IT!

Searched through the internet to find the exact name of the shade -- it's somewhere between burgundy/wine/berry/plum. The swatch below says it's "wine", but I think I like to call it "plumberry". More berry on plum, and more plum on berry. Sounds confusing eh?

We visited Alden Chua again last weekend. Dex said he'll have Alden make a suit for him. Sort of trial na rin to see if we like his work. That's a pretty good idea. So I thought I could have him make a dress for me also - the design and color will be more or less like the ento gowns posted above. Para we could also have a preview on how our ento gowns will look like. If we like the outcome, then we'll go for Alden. The challenging part here is to look for fabric that matches the plumberry shade. Alden said he can't promise he'll be able to find the exact shade as it's quite uncommon. So the next day, I went to Tutuban for some fabric search. I saw one that's close to plumberry but it's organza. Alden mentioned he'll be using chiffon for the skirts to create the soft look. I dunno if organza will do. Anyhoo, I think I'll just go back to Divi next week for more fabric searching. I hope we'll be able to find the one.

By the way, I asked Alden to give a new quote considering there has been some changes in the number of gowns/barongs in the package. Nakakahiya but I still asked for the final price without the bridal gown. He's quite cool about it and gave me a good quote. We have more computation and thinking to do. So far, we've narrowed down our shortlist to: 1)Veluz (bridal gown) + Alden Chua (groom, ento & others) .. just might have Yifu make the mommy gowns instead. 2) Zandra Lim (complete package) .. Zandra gave us a good quote and her gowns are really nice as well. Just hope we could finalize the couturiers before end of June.

As if there aren't enough things to do... I received a letter from the Canadian Embassy asking me to take the IELTS exam!! Gosh, aren't my credentials enough proof that I'm English literate? The thought of it makes me nervous! I haven't had any exam since I graduated from college! Puwede bang ifast-forward ang time? Sigh.. sleepless nights na naman. :(

Your true color is Orange! You're a bold, confident orange. A warm, powerful color that indicates a strong, welcoming personality, orange is the mark of people who are social and extroverted by nature. Vibrant, with an upbeat attitude, you have a bright, inviting demeanor. Energetic and fun-loving, you're a real friend-magnet. Your easy charm and unassuming manner make you the sort of person people want to meet and get to know better. Well-rounded and fun to be around, you enjoy helping others, so it's no surprise that orange also symbolizes attraction. Orange is an extraordinary color — for an extraordinary person.

Sketch by Jorge Palmos of Palmos Weddings

    Friday, April 07, 2006
A friend of ours referred Palmos Weddings to us as wedding gown designer. After almost a month of preps pause, I decided to pay Jorge Palmos a visit (although my friend told me to look for Nono, his brother). His wife Olie has been calling me constantly for follow-up appointment since we weren't able to meet them during our first visit. I felt this is the right time to get back on action.

Jorge Palmos and his wife Olie weren't at their shop when I went in. I've been trying to call their numbers since this morning to setup an appointment to no avail. Apparently, they don't have a landline yet in their Makati shop pa pala. So basically, I just gate-crashed! :) There was another bride waiting for them so I just scanned through the magazines in their shop to kill time. Hm.. seems like none of the designs in the mags catched my eye. So I decided to just let Jorge sketch anything that would suit me best.

Jorge, the guy with a visaya accent, and his wife Olie were both accomodating and very easy to talk to. Machika but not irritating. Maybe his visaya accent made me feel like he's just a friend from the neighborhood. hehe.. He initially asked me what kind of designs do I prefer. I said I just want a tube gown with a dreamy feel. As to color motiff, I just pointed the dried flower frame hanging in their shop and said "Parang ganon..." The flower frame consists of dried flowers in deep red, plum, and pink hues. He got the picture right away. Buti nalang meron silang ganong decoration sa shop. Saved me a lot of time describing the colors I want. On the side though, I told him I'm not yet super sure regarding the motiff coz it might be a little too "happy" for our wedding. Told him Granny just passed away recently and I'm not yet super sure if hues of red and pinks are acceptable. Although, I have a gut feeling na we can still stick with the colors we prefer coz Granny's death isn't something that's considered 'sad' na. In Chinese, it's called "tai hok" (big luck) coz she passed away in a very old age with lots of apos and apo sa tuhod. Jorge sketched 2 designs for me and 1 each for the Maid of Honor, Bridesmaid, and Junior Bridesmaid. Wow! I like his sketches! Ganda ng drawing with matching colors and all! Although I know paper palang yan, but somehow it helped a lot in picturing how the gowns are going to be like when they're done. Another thing is, I'm kind of convinced din na he's good in getting the right fit. He made a little kuwento on how Angie (a fellow wawie) managed with fittings for herself and their entos. Measurements were taken overseas and the gowns fitted perfectly during their first fitting! Wow! That's a big big plus for me coz part of our entourage will be coming in from other countries to attend our wedding. I need a designer/mananahi that could get the fit right coz there won't be much time left for adjustments. Jorge's work did impress me on this aspect. I just have to counter verify with Angie.

Design 1: He sketched an empire cut gown with ribbon details on the train. Simple and dreamy. I like the sketch but am not really sold with the idea of having an empire cut gown. I've always preferred A-line or balloon gowns. Mas 'young' and 'sweet' ang dating. Anyhoo, it's a nice design naman.

Design 2: I told him I'm not really a fan of heavily beaded gowns. I'm more into fabrics and structure. Hence, the 2nd sketch. I like this better than the first one. Simple, classy, at may dating for me. I love the design on the skirt.

From left to right, design for the Maid of Honor, Bridesmaid, and Junior Bridesmaid. I love the color combination and the details of the upper area. The skirt will be frosted white organza over pink satin. Deep plum satin for accents naman. I love the idea and the sketch look fabulous!!! Waah parang gusto ko tuloy suotin ang damit ng mga ento! haha...

As much as I like his designs, I'm not yet settled on booking him yet. The price he quoted me is reasonable but I figured we could still do with other designers that offer cheaper price. Jorge said special price for me na raw yan coz simple lang naman yun gowns. Interested din ako sa suits nila coz Aggie's hubby (Bizzi) really had a nice suit for their wedding. Hm.. compute compute... parang ang mahal pa rin. With Alden Chua's quotation always in mind, yun quotation ng other designers will always seem too pricey for me. Isip isip...

We're scheduled to meet Zandra Lim and Leonard Co this weekend. Their prices are a lot lower compared to Jorge's price. Will just meet them first and do the thinking later on. But I really gained a lot by meeting Jorge. Mas concrete na yun idea ko on the gown designs and the motiff. To all the brides out there, I highly recommend this guy! :)

    Handwriting Analysis

The results of your analysis say:

You like to be surrounded by four solid walls. You are a person who thinks before acting, intelligent and thorough. You are diplomatic, objective, and live in the present. You are not very reserved, impatient, self-confident and fond of action. You enjoy life in your own way and do not depend on the opinions of others.
